The Only One in White

i admit i am one of those girls that has dreamed of her wedding since she was five. even went as far as making a binder of details of what my dream wedding would be, didn't matter if i had the groom. but i've grown up now and my little obsession has mellowed out to what this blog has grown to become. getting inspiration from high fashion and everywhere else, the bride should be the only one in white.

worship the ground they walk on

you can’t really talk wedding without mentioning the biggest wedding of them all, the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton & Prince William. Prince William will of course will be wearing his Royal uniform, so what he’s wearing isn’t really that exciting. its already been rumored that Kate Middleton has picked the house of Alexander McQueen to design her gown and by the looks of the gowns from the runway, i personally can’t wait to see how her gown looks like. now some designers are throwing in their two cents on what kind of shoes they Royal Couple should wear, but of course i only care what the future Princess of Wales will be be wearing.

Designed by Stuart Weitzman, a strappy sandal with sapphire flowers.

Designed by Vince Camuto, designed from family history & her ring

Designed by Ivanka Trump (side note: i didnt know Ivanka Trump designed shoes!) bulbs hitting the diamond back

Designed by Giuseppe Zanotti, designed after the classic style of her engagement ring

Designed by Georgina Goodman, designed with antique Welsh lace & Scottish pearls.

i don’t know what Kate Middleton would wear, and i havent been really following her style or anything, but by the looks of her i think shes more of a simple, classic but yet a little bit daring of a woman (she did pick McQueen). but i think like any other female, she would have to pick the dress first and then the shoes. personally i’m loving the Vince Camuto & Giuseppe Zanotti design with the homage to the engagement ring.

Which shoe do you think she should wear?

personal favorite

when i first started looking at wedding gowns i would just thumb over bridal magazines and drool over every dress i liked, as my obsession grew i started to love one specific designer, Lazaro. Theses are just a few that i drool over.

Lazaro dresses are just so opulent, elegant, amazing and many more. i love the attention to detail and in some designs the detailing brings a vintage feel to the dress.

matthew williamson

with my new found love for fashion and to broaden my knowledge about designers, i fell upon Matthew Williamson, a designer from London. Matthew Williamson first launched his bridal collection last summer and this 2011 collection features floor length gowns and sassy cocktail dresses. These dresses are available for purchase on net-a-porter.com/weddings

if i was to do a civil wedding in City Hall i would definitely wear dress 2. its so city bridal chic!

a queen in mcqueen

as Paris fashion week closes, Alexander Mcqueen definitely leaves a lasting impression. Sarah Burton, the succesor, has defined this collection with one word: ICY. and these couture gowns do no disappoint. With the rumors that the Kate Middleton has chosen the design house for her Royal Wedding gown, all eyes are on McQueen.  These gowns are so amazingly beautiful that i wouldn’t even dare to carry flowers or wear a veil to deter the attention from it.

There are no words to even begin to explain how exquisite and beautiful these gowns are.

okay okay, i know its not white, but i love how goth and so “Black Swan” this gown is! the different textures & the detailing! a bride who wouldnt be scared to walk down the aisle wearing McQueen definitely wouldnt be scared to be in black!

a flower story

you can’t talk bridal without mentioning Vera Wang.  she gave a little flower story in her designer collaboration with David’s Bridal but she went to the full story with her Spring 2011 collection. the dresses are mostly in organza and carry an airy-ness about them. perfect for spring: light, airy and flowery. the details arent as prominent on the computer screen but the first dress has gorgeous lace detailing and dress number two has hard painted organza giving it that light cream-champagne color. absolutely beautiful!

the perfect princess

lets face it, there is no getting away with the fact that a lot of women want to look like a princess on their wedding day, and this is taught at a very young age. so what’s more appropriate than Disney selling princess bridal gowns? this idea isnt new, this collection comes from a collaboration with Alfred Angelo and the detailing on each gown is exquisite!

the dresses are designed after the disney princesses but the gowns are not as “froo-froo” as most princess dresses, thats why i like them. they carry such an elegance about them. i think the Cinderella dress is my favorite, the ball gown skirt and silhouette is classically beautiful, just like Cinderella.

you can get everything at Costco…

and they weren’t joking. Kirstie Kelly  has collaborated with Costco with a signature collection to be offered in select stores. the first time i heard it it was a surprise but then again they sell coffins so why wouldn’t they celebrate life and sell wedding gowns? i’d actually prefer the sale of gowns first then the coffins but hey! what can you say?

the gowns are affordable between $700-1400 and design wise, they aren’t so bad. though its only six gowns, the styles are general enough to appeal to every type of bride.

as a well know bulk retailer, i wondered how they would actually go about having he gowns on the floor, Costco is making an exclusive event out of this in select stores and is having brides make an appointment to see and try on these dresses.

though i do find it a little awkward for Costco to be selling dresses, but i think its smart positioning since no one has really thought to before.

for the budget bride

the gown is always the piece du resistance but just like gas prices are not getting any cheaper neither are wedding dresses. there are new more affordable dresses out there and here are two options.

White House|Black Market started offering gowns last year through catalog only, but through a word of a Store Manager friend they are now selecting stores to feature a bridal salon. Gowns starting at $400-700.

J. Crew offers bridal gowns from $300-3,000 available through catalog or online only.

Marchesa Fall 2011

alright i admit the only time i hear Marchesa is during award shows when actresses are asked what theyre wearing. now that the award season is over i wanted to see what Marchesa has to offer next. the fall ready to wear collections were full of amazing and opulent dresses and i couldn’t help but think that these gowns could not only be worn on the red carpet but also down the aisle.

Vera Wang for David’s Bridal

when i first heard about this collaboration, i was excited. i’ve loved Vera Wang for a long time and even dreamt that i will be walking down the aisle in her dress but of course the price tag was always an issue, but now it isn’t!

the collection features 12 gowns priced between $600-1400 and are absolutely beautiful!! the collection also features accessories such as headbands, veils and sashes that can add the perfect detail to the gowns
